We offer Engineering skills and Data Literacy course for the 10th grade students, as a one semester course. This course is a pre-requisite for STEM III course: Mini Grid Solar System.

In this course, each student will independently manage a personal budget using Excel, handling aspects such as income, taxes, debt, loans, and monthly expenses. This initial phase serves as a guided learning experience to explore Excel functionalities and understand the basics of money management. Once students are proficient in Excel functions and budget management, they will collaborate in pairs to create a family budget based on real-life scenarios.

Throughout this process, any negative balances in their budgets will trigger the need for a cost reduction plan, prompting students to develop a simple model to forecast potential savings. The instructor will introduce specific expenses to generate negative balances, enhancing the learning experience. In this course, students will also acquire data literacy skills, including data analysis, interpretation, critical thinking, and drawing conclusions.
